What are the different types of picture frames?

When choosing your picture frame, it's important firstly to understand what you are trying to achieve by framing your images or artwork: protection and conservation and/or decoration.

Gone are the days of plain, boring picture frames. Today, you can find picture frames to complement any picture and decor in colour and style. They are great for exhibiting, protecting and enhancing the appearance of your favorite photographs or artwork.

Simple frames:

That's the simplest and easiest framing type. Instead of hanging one picture on a wall, arrange several in a group for an eye-catching effect. The biggest formats bear length-wise and width-wise hangers and can be displayed either vertically or horizontally on the walls, while the smallest and medium types can be either hung or displayed on tables thanks to their Easel back

Frame with mat(s):

A mat is a thin, flat piece of Cardboard included within a picture frame, which gives art and photographs a finished, decorative look. It creates a "frame" inside the frame and perform other more practical functions such as separating the subject from the Glass. Wallpaper, stationery and maps make great mats to surround your subject. Or paint or paste shapes onto a colored mat for a personalized look.

Collage frames:

Collage frames are photo frames that can hold more than one photo. These frames allow you to create your own collage of photos on a same theme, thanks to its multiple-opening mat. Large mats provide space to sign one's names and add sentimental statements.
