Term Definition
CanvasA heavy woven fabric usually made of cotton or linen, used as a support for a painting. The surface is prepared for painting by applying gesso or rabbit skin glue.
 
CardboardCardboard (thickness 3mm) are available in the same dimensions as the synthetic glass. They are made of wood pulp and are acid-free to prevent pictures from turning yellow. Cardboard mats could quite possibly be the most important element in your frame design for they make any picture look even more impressive.
